![]() Hi,
I'm computer challenged. When someone says "here's some pics" in their posts, how do I find the pictures? Where do I go and what do I click on? Thanks |

![]() They should be visible in the post. If there are not, then I suspect your employer is blocking the content.

![]() I wouldn't imagine an IT department blocking pics in HTML links, most of the internet wouldn't show. It could be a browser setting, you could try a different browser, or check with your Help Desk to see if it's something that's done intentionally.

![]() The pictures are hosted on sites such as flickr. Various content filters (websense, barracuda, ironport, squid) categorize these sites as hobbies, photography, content sharing, etc.
Companies with aggressive policies towards "productivity" block these sites by category. In any event, I travel between various client sites and a small number of them block most of the images on Canreef. The one site that comes to mind runs a squid proxy server. I'm not sure the admin is intentionally blocking the images, but all that displays is a little red X where the pictures should be. |

![]() So, just to satisfy my curiosity, I check the classification for various photo sharing sites in the WebSense Database.
There's a good review of the Top 10 Photo Sharing Sites here. #1 – Photo Bucket (www.photobucket.com) WebSense Classification: Personal Network Storage and Backup #2 – Flickr (www.flickr.com) WebSense Classification: Social Networking #3 – WebShots (www.webshots.com) WebSense Classification: Social Networking #4 – Fotki WebSense Classification: Social Networking #5 – Care2Connect WebSense Classification: Service and Philanthropic Organizations #6 – dotPhoto (www.dotphoto.com) WebSense Classificaiton: Personal Network Storage and Backup #7 – AvenquestSendPhotos WebSense Classification: Information Technology #8 – SmugMug WebSense Classificaiton: Personal Network Storage and Backup #9 – MyPhotoAlbum (www.myphotoalbum.com) Websense Classification: Social Networking #10 – KodakEasyShareGallary WebSense Classificaiton: Personal Network Storage and Backup I also checked my own site where I host my pictures and it came back as "uncategorized". Lot's of companies block 'Social Networking' sites. Far fewer companies block 'Personal Network Storage and Backup''; however, these sites pose a significant security risk for companies concerned about DLP (Data Leakage Protection). Anyhow - as should now be apparent - I have way too much time on my hands ![]() |

![]() In case your curious, the WebSense classification for canreef.com is.......
Society and Lifestyles I'm not sure exactly what that means, but it does explain why most people can access the site from work. RC is classified the same way. |

![]() You'r right abcha0s, that's exactly what I see, little red X boxes. Only when I'm at work, on my friends computer I have no difficulty seeing the photos.
Thanks |
