Uhhh....I think Ross was being 'clever' there. You almost certainly do need a heater in your tank. If your water temperature ever goes below 78 or 79 degrees F, then you want a heater.
If your water temp ever goes above 81-82 then you need a way to cool it (chiller, fans or move the tank to a cooler spot in the house).

I do have a heater in my 165 BUT it has never been plugged in AT ALL!! Temp stays between 78 - 80 but does creep up if it is really hot out and the AC has been turned off.

In a 29al tank I woould say you need a heater. These guys cool down quite quickly if it chilly outside
