I had diatoms for a couple weeks. I had been stirring my sand bed up to off some of the bubbles it had trapped/was releasing but eventually just let it be. Shortly after it literally vanished and my tank is nearly algae free. My params all tested within range during this time but I had been overfeeding a tiny bit and got my self control finally.

peanut worm, harmless detrivore....what and how often are you feeding?.....how old are the bulbs you are using? can you increase the flow to the bottom area of the tank?
