Just wondering how long you use pellets after you have opened the jar? I have New Life Spectrum and there is no indication on the jar of a "discard time after opening" not like the Formula One pellets (I think it says to discard them after being opened for 6 months).

I buy the 2220G/80oz pails of NLS which lasts about 3-4 months never had a problem with it going bad. Sometimes I will buy 2-3 pails depending on the deal I get, then I throw them in the freezer never had a problem

Okay, you obviously have many more fish than I do. I only have two clowns and the smallest container I could buy of NLS (I think 3 oz) and have had it open 6 months or more. As it isn't the only thing I feed it is still 1/2 full. They are starting to spit it out so I think I will get a new container and see how they like it. I never thought of freezing it so I will give that a try. Thanks for the tip!!!

The amount of nutrient loss in 6 months time would depend entirely on how they are stored.

If stored in a cool, dry, dark environment, the overall nutrient loss would be minimal, and there is certainly no reason to be tossing them out. |

Since you said the fish are spitting them out, I'd get new ones.

Clowns always like to play with their food when they are not hungry....they will suck them in and spit them out several times
