![]() I was under this impression also... though I'm technically still a newb. I don't know if we have any resident snail experts (and all of my snails are hitchhikers and offspring), so you may want to post this elsewhere as well (or try a Google search).

![]() i remember when i was in junior high(wow that sounds like a long time ago) we had to study salt water inhabitants and i do recall them saying the same about their organs require the shell to keep them alive, but who knows that was 15 years ago and we all know how accurate those old books are

![]() i have three little hermits in there but they all stay on the rocks and i never see them on the glass bottom. havent seen them on the bottom ever since i went pretty much bare bottom

![]() that is strange but wonder how likely it would be able to back into a shell. Thinking if my liver and stomach squeezed out, they're not going back in on their own.
