+1.. Two 24 inchers would allow you to spread the light more evenly which sounds like what you're after. That's what I would do :-)

it is 22 inches front to back and 24 deep, 125 gallons

are you looking to go t5, mh or combo ? as t5 may make you pull your hair out with 22" front to back when your looking for a 24" fixture.

T5 if I can get them with enough wattage or a m/h combo as long as they are a matching pair
