Is it still smelly?

It could be that you have cleaner water, not as much green algae in the water column, so you are pulling more of other types of wastes (fish poop, food, etc)

Could be some red type of algae that is in the water column, this just means you are getting it out what ever it is, as long as it's smelly then I would say its working as long as it smells the same as before. It could be pigment when a BTA decided to comit harykary I have skim that was a bit on the brown orange side and smelled realy bad. None of the Nem got into the tank as it was the HOB skimmer morter that he decided to go and investigate, sucked him right through the slots in the skimmer moter OR 2500 right into the skimmate. Do you have a missing fish or some thing?

Could be that snow you are feeding. I used that stuff and man did my tank start to smell, and I would get that color out of my skimmer also. that stuff just pollutes the tank in my opinion.

I'm sure this is it. I've seen this affect many, many times with different foods.
