Same stuff they always say, about how it's a crime and so on and so forth, and they have no problem with people using the services to find new artists but they do with people who download entire albums and so on. The question is, how do you fight something so pervasive.

Just for everyone's info, looks like Canada will not be sueing anyone at least not yet. I figure the states will be pressuring shortly however.

CRIA would and has argued fiercely against the supposed effectiveness of the levy (levy, not a tax). See the below for an explanation of the levy.
http://neil.eton.ca/copylevy.shtml Also note that many retailers do not charge the levy. Techtronics Computer in Calgary's north-east (on McKnight) does not charge any levy, they quite often sell blank CD's at about $0.30/ea.
