Same stuff they always say, about how it's a crime and so on and so forth, and they have no problem with people using the services to find new artists but they do with people who download entire albums and so on. The question is, how do you fight something so pervasive.

You can change the file names to avoid being detected by searches. Also you can chose not to share your files. I dunno, sue Kazza not thier users. What a bunch of crap.

If you are going to obtain things ileagaly then you should also be prepared for the concenquences if you get caught.

CRIA would and has argued fiercely against the supposed effectiveness of the levy (levy, not a tax). See the below for an explanation of the levy.

Also note that many retailers do not charge the levy. Techtronics Computer in Calgary's north-east (on McKnight) does not charge any levy, they quite often sell blank CD's at about $0.30/ea.
