Default BioCube Lighting, has anyone done a lightng Mod?

Looking at upgrading the lights on the 29 and 14 Biocube but I want to keep the hood/top intact.Any ideas? of cost or how to? or can I just buy better bulbs and will they fit?
Thanks Sherry

unless your doing a big updrade likt to MH it isnt worth it. Do not go with anything from " nanotuners". It is expensive, time consuming and the customer service bites.

I have a 70w 16.5" sunpod fs.
Would fit either of those tanks, I run mine on my ap12.

I had an ap12 with a modded hqi hood but it just got too hot for vancouver in the summer, even when I added a second fan.
Thats why I just ran it open top, now i have a piece of glass that fits over the display but still leaves the sump area open and it stays under 81 in the summer

I added another 24w (i believe) to the canopy of my g/f's 14g biocube quite easily. Add a piece of stainless for reflector and wire it into a ballast. Works great and she has been keeping beautiful corals ever since. She is considering having me (Typical) put in a 70w MH though and taking off the hood. We'll see.
