Default my 55g reef

im fairly new to the SW scene , been involved since about last christmas. though i have kept freshwater tanks in the past.

my tank is a 55g, no sump. kinda kickin myself over that, but there's a good reason to get into a bigger tank .

we'll start it off with the fish!

azure demoiselle

scopas tang, sorry about the blurry shot

blackbar chromis

purple firefish

dragon goby

mystery wrasse

fire shrimp (wrasse ate him)

cleaner shrimp (wrasse took off the legs, elegance finished him off)

some of the coral

poor angle full tank shot.

thanks for looking! im loving the hobby

I love that elegance coral. Will clowns host these things? Are those the true colors of it?

Tank is looking great! Mystery wrasse seems to be making friends...

haha yes the wrasse is not in my good books at the moment. the shrimp were my favorites. at least hes healthy i guess!

i had 2 percula clowns in the tank, they were removed because they kept fighting in and amongst the corals, probably trying to establish dominance to determine sex. but yes one of the clowns did host it, aswell as others like hammers and umbrella leather. it was getting pretty violent and starting to do some damage so they had to go.

those are the true colors, i didnt adjust anything on the camera or edit it at all.
the greens are much brighter and more fluorescent in person. it looks a bit better in this pic

Awesome. So do these corals wander like anemones or are they stationary?

Nope.. elegance corals are stationary, but you need to put a lot of room around them and your other corals because they can expand up 4xs the size of their skeleton. Also they do better if your tank isn't exactly perfect in terms of water conditions, so backing off some skimming helps these guys.

Lovely tank, thanks for sharing (and the info on the mystery wrasse has helped me decide that I like my shrimp too much to get one!)

Your tank looks great, I had a mystery wrasse what a pain I really began hating him as well It was worthy of ripping apart the whole tank to evict him.

lol i try to keep my water as perfect as possible, havent backed off the skimmer. although its only a little hang on prizm.

i also dose essential elements weekly.

heres a shot of the elegance when i first picked it up, you can also see the skeleton plunged into the bed there.

as far as the wrasse goes i have mixed feelings, a friend added one to his tank and it ignored all shrimp completely. come to think of it mine did too for the longest time.

thanks for all the kind words!
