Yeah it was a custom build. Speaking of skimmers, we sat in a talk about TOC (total organic carbon) and skimmers, and quite frankly... the skimmer sales people were not too impressed that the speaker shot down a lot of their claims. Lets just say, bigger is not always better.

Hahaha. The summary of this topic was that all skimmers eventually flatten out in their performance. Some do it quicker than others. Even with massive skimmers, you will have to do water changes to remove the rest of the TOC.

That sounds about right to me. I think I've read in a few places that the concentration of the organics themselves determines how well they'll bind to the bubbles.
