Default Sea swirls

Has anyone had one of these running for a year or more? My LFS told me that 7 out of 10 they sold last year were returned because they failed within the first year of operation.
I would like to have two in my next set up but not if they only last a year.

Thanks,
cic

Hi

The Sea swirl will be the best money you ever spent, I used to have all kinds of anoying power heads in my tank until I purchased a SeaSwirl. The swaying back and forth of the retrun eliminates dead spots and creats current galore.

Hello,

There is an alternative brand of these auto movement type of return head sold nowadays. J&L has them listed. I forgot the name but do a search on it. It's cheaper with these and you don't have to plug it in (if I remember correctly).

Ocean Currents wavemakers:
http://www.ocean-currents.com/products.html

J&L prices: their page entitled "Wavemakers"

Sea Swirl website:
http://www.sea-swirl.com/

If their products are made as well as their website, I would be concerned. ;)

But you have one good review at least. The failure rate quoted by your LFS would steer me away, however, if they are being honest and not just trying to sell you the alternative.

Does anyone use surgical tubing in short lengths, attached to the PH nozzle? I'd be curious to see how the snaking would distribute the flow.

Cheers,
AJ

Sea-Swirl units now have a different type motor than the first units.
Previous motors had flaws.
Sent mine back because it stopped rotating.
Got it fixed(free) and fitted with new motor. All units are now equipped with different motors.
Works fine ever since.
