Go ahead. Dont need skimmer untill you get livestock, well, you don;t acctually need a skimmer period. There are people here who are very successfull with skimmerless tanks.

Don't need a skimmer for cycling, in fact it might speed things up without one.

My first 6 sw tanks (starting in the late 80s) were all skimmerless, so yeah, go for it.
