Wow never seen them in numbers like that! I loved finding the odd one I had in my old tank but you must love these like I loved the piles of those brittle white filter feeders that cover live rock. I'd be yankin' those guys OUT =)

Actually truthfully they don't seem to bother the corals and I guess they are more beneficial than anything. I don't mind them - just find it truly AMAZING how many have reproduced!

CHECK OUT WHAT I FOUND!!!
I have been hearing "CLICKING" for the past few months and could never locate the source! I found it! And it's big - looks like maybe 2"??? but I only saw his head! Pretty sure this is a pistol shrimp. Couldn't get the best pics but atleast I've finally seen him!

Also had my RBTA split today! Strange day all around!

Nothing I guess?? Have no clue how I'd get him out? Do they eat corals or just fish?

If none of you fish have gone missing since you last added rock or heard the clicking, id say let it be.

But you can also just remove the rock he hides in and place it in your sump.

Some have said a pistol can shatter a glass tank, but you never know i guess till it happens to you.

Looks an awful lot like a crab to me, not a pistol shrimp? But I dunno, my eyes are old and I've been needing glasses since grade 5 so maybe I'm seeing it wrong.

I have mixed feelings about rock crabs. On the one hand, they are a sign of healthy rock. On the other hand, anything with claws is untrustworthy (it's just that there are varying degrees of untrustworthiness). Having said that, I have a few in my cube tank that are too hard to do anything about (would have to take down the whole rock structure), they've been in there for years, no idea how they stay alive but they don't seem to be the cause of any wonton mayhem or such.. the last one I saw a few weeks ago had gotten huuuuuge. It's sort of annoying because the rock came to me dry, and I closely inspected each and every rock before putting in .. didn't find a thing. They just materialized months later. It's kind of a neat trick if you think of it.

Pretty sure it's a shrimp as it seems that is just the head, kinda long like. Not round looking, if that makes sense. Plus the clicking points towards a pistol from what I understand. Or do crabs click too?
No way I could get it out right now since it's in the bottom middle rocks.
Funny thing is, I think it came in on a coral! No new rocks put in and NO clicking before 4 months ago. Pretty sure it was on a Tubipora I bought from the shop since it was the largest piece I've brought home and around the right timing.
