The majority of the large colonies are gone, they started tissue recession and well, I didn't risk the chance of them going full bore and skewing the water quality again so they went. I did frag some of them but the frags went too. The tissue is coming off in sheets. Its pretty ugly. I lost the lovely purple frag I got from you so I'll be begging on your doorstep at some point.

I'd like to say its slowing down but every time I think that I see another one on its way out. Its pretty devastating to say the least. I've waffled between throwing it all out and just leaving the tank with rock, fish and the odd LPS that seem to have no problems with ammonia or then other times I look at other websites to see what I can plan for the new tank. I'm trying to keep my head in the game but man, this is pretty heartbreaking.

Wow Christy, this is just heartbreaking to read. It is also extremely scary for those of use with a lot less experience than you - how will our moves/transfers go.

Once the dust settles, it would be extremely helpful if you could write a kind of "lessons learned" post of what happend, what you think the reasons were and what you would do differently next time.

I know there is a lot of info in this post already but I think we could all benefit from your thoughts and perhaps save another reefer from the same devastation.

I hope things turn around quickly for you.

Something like that is difficult at best. I've moved three times, twice without a hiccup, once with results similar to Christy's. Did the same things all three times, it just didn't work once. No idea why. If I tried to give some reasons, they would be guesses only. Mostly, sometimes shite happens. As a habit, I've always given away lots of frags in the event I need some things back for exactly this type of reason.
Christy does the same, so when she's ready, half her stock is in my tank, and she just needs to come pick it up. The new incarnation will be even better than the last.

Are you guy’s familiar with Microbelifte products line?
http://www.microbelift.com/
They have some products that I believe can make the difference, check it out. This company specialized in commercial waste water treatment. They have an aquarium products line that I had good results using it. I even had friends who managed to populate the aquarium in couple of days using these products.
