Thanks There's a tiny little filter hanging right up near the top for water movement. It has a little piece of sponge, filter floss and a tiny amount of carbon inside. It gums up pretty fast, but it provides enough movement to keep the surface well oxygenated and clear of algae. It's tempting to throw some glass shrimp in there. If they weren't eaten maybe they'd breed.

Hey, I have a half barrel that's been sitting outside empty for years. I think I might just copy you

Very Nice! Good Idea.
I've got an empty half barrel in the garden shed. I might put in on my deck, fill it with cold beer and dive in. It won't look as nice as yours, but after a couple of dips I won't care.

Heck I don't have a barrel but I have one of those muck buckets. Hmmm, how to keep the dog from drinking from it.....

That's awesome. I've never been able to get a lily to flower in my half-barrel I setup every year. This year I just gave up from the get-go and just put some water lettuce and some other floaters in it. .... Its OK, but... your half-barrel looks better than mine.
