my tank has bee drilled on the back for duel oveflows so a herbie is out of the question anywase

You can still run herbies... fishytime has duel overflows in his tank and runs a herbie in both... Works just fine...

Do you know where the noise is coming from? Is it from water splashing into the sump?

no the noise is coming from the water going into my overflows the pipe in my sump is below the waterline

i whent to A.A. today because my wife is out of town this weekend and i can buy stuff, i got a blue throght trigger and a finger leather, i found my camera and got pics but now i need the usb cord to put them on the computer. ITS EASER TO ASK FOR FORGIVNESS THAN PERMITION. LOL
