Let me guess Seagate Hard Drive... I had the same problem and was able to fix it. There is a long thread about how to fix it on the internet but you will need some parts to get it going. Coming towards Jasper anytime soon... and is it a Seagate? If it is a seagate go to their website and check if it needs a firmware update.... http://seagate.custkb.com/seagate/cr...p?DocId=207931 . You will need to input the serial number and model number to find out. If it does require the update PM me and I will give you more info towards a possible fix.

If your handy with a screwdriver, remove the HD from the USB case and mount the drive directly in a computer. If the drive is not readable then you will probably have to send it to a data recovery outfit which can be very expensive.

i cant believe i kno this answer!
there is a place on center street on the right side as your coming from downtown its just near the top of the hill, but anyways, they restore lost data from hard drives, i know of a few online utilities but they cost alot,. a very alot. so if you really really need this data that place will do it.

Thanks for the replies. It is actually a Lacie unit, the one shown below:

I know that data recovery is a costly process so i was just seeing if any one could help a canreefer out with some "recession pricing". Thanks, Steve
