I might join in the 10g with budget category. The rocks and sand aren't included in the budget right?

Hey quick question... if I build my tank in the custom with a budget category, do I have to include the cost of the building materials? Or are they counted as freebies being building materials, at least for the main display tank (similar to the stock 10 gallon category, where the display 10g is free but a sump would be extra)?

I'm just formulating a plan and figured out that it might be easiest to build my own tank, but I won't do this if it will figure into my budget. It's looking like my need for a protein skimmer is going to be... well, expensive unless I do a DIY one.

On a side note, if I were to buy a skimmer from someone on Canreef, I would put what I paid against my budget, right?

building materials are not part of budget, even if you build it yourself. For the skimmer you would pay the price before shipping (if any).

at least that's how I understood the rules
