zing!

Hey, anyone seen those bikes that have the two wheels up front and one in the back?

I can't decide if I like them or not.

I have. I even went so far as to look them up once, but do you think I could remember the URL or name or anything? I gotta stop drinking out of aluminum cans.

I also remember they profiled them on Discovery a few years back when they first started popping up.

To me it seems kind of neat. But I wonder what it's like cornering on them. I'm not motorbiker (although I ride two wheels a lot so I *sort* of know what I'm talking about here...maybe??), but it seems to me part of the allure is the banking into a turn? With 3 wheels you're not going to get the same feel (whether the duallie is in the front or in the rear??) ..I dunno though?

Here you go:

Was checking it out at the bike show. They are kind of neat and would be a great getting around town vehicle for better weather. Not really a bike though :-)

My thoughts exactly. I've seen a few in Calgary and the don't do anything for me really. But hey, I'm sure my bike doesn't do much for some people either. To each their own!

I came up behind one of these on my R1200C on Westside Road (a real twisty between Vernon & Kelowna). Obviously does not corner anything like a two wheeler and I had no trouble sticking to his tail. Could have passed him with little trouble except that Westside Road doesn't offer too many real safe opportunities to pass. I got the crazy stuff out of my system long ago and like to think I owe my longevity to making smarter decisions after a few close calls. Anyhow, he had to really lean his upper body into the turn, like a snowmobiler might, to compensate for the centrifugal force of cornering. Reminded me of the guys in the old sidecar races I used to watch. I also noticed he would accelerate hard out of the turn, which a bike does too, but he had to brake harder than a two wheeler prior to entering turns. Maybe fun for a while, but as you say, I didn't get the impression you'd get the same exhilaration as you do leaning a two wheeler into a turn and shaving a little paint/metal off the footpegs. I think it would get old pretty quick for me.

I used to ride Dirt bikes in my teens, then street: 81 Suzuki GS400E, 80 Suzuzki GS1100E, Honda 750 moved up to crotchrockets 86 Suzuki GSXR750 and finally 93 Honda CBR900RR. My son is now 11 so we are thinking of getting back into dirt bking. I almost brought this baby home last summer but the wife said............... obvious what her answer was as I previously mentioned "almost". So Our fun vehicle for now is the JCW Mini below!

So .. speaking of 3-wheelers and banking, check this thing out..
http://www.carver-worldwide.com/Home/Index.asp?nc=1

And, although it has nothing to do with banking on corners, I saw this webpage too, looks pretty keen:
