It's looking good Ryan. I'm glad everyone acclimated so well. Great pic of the firefish too! I saw those teeny tiny regal tangs, super cute and super tiny. Too bad the little fellow died.

Its been going for a few months now.
Thanks Dawn. He is a trickly little devil to capture with my camera. Seems the camera wants to focus on the rocks behind him. Everything looks good on the little screen but once they are uploaded the rocks are clear but the Firefish is a little blurry. |

umm i was wondering why i was getting emails about this thread lol
So when i told you to switch out some of your bulbs is for the fact that with only 4 bulbs your extremely limited and you want to make the most of your ability to get the highest output. imo pure actinic's should only be used to bring out color in your coral. 14k bulbs on the market would vary, you have the KZ new generation, GE blue +, Aquamedic 14,000k , ati blue +, I would run 2 of these and probably something like an actinic + and not a pure actinic. the actinic+ are ussually around 60% actinic but they actually do good for the coral. give it a go, i am sure you would be happy with the outcome |

Alright I will have to give them a try next time I am down. I looked around at the shops but everyone seemed to be out of bulbs ( I only stopped at 2 stores).
The one I have is an Ati Blue+ it says on the bulb. So not an actinic+. |

Well a little update, our Skunk clown died. He got sucked into the Maxi-Jat 900 intake and I wasnt sure how long he was in there for. I pulled him out and he was walking on the bottom but when I went back 15 minutes later he was back in the intake dead. I will replace him but not until the big tank.
Speaking of big tank planning has been put into effect. We have decided 48Lx30Wx24H. We werent planning on going that high but we have decided on a Vortech MP-40 for a wave effect. Lighting we still are not sure about still undecided between 250W MH or 12 T-5's We want clams and easy to keep SPS this is why we have decided on so much light. Here is the tank that inspired the new build. Its tmantaylor18's tank on RC ![]() ![]() We have decided to go a little longer than that tank but am keeping the same depth. Actually be be 100% honest we are throwing around the idea of going 36" deep instead of 30". I really like the deeper tanks over the more narrow ones. Well here are some pictures that were taken tonight. As always the clownfish was easy to photograph but the flame was a little leary and the wrasse isnt too bad when the Flam isnt chasing him around. Poor little guy. 6 Line Wrasse ![]() ![]() Hammer Coral Frag ![]() New Sprouts ![]() Fish and Inverts ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Full Tank Shot ![]() Unknown Anemone that just showed up ![]() |

fyi get rid of those pure actinic's and change the out for a 22k bulbs (GE aqua blue plus, blue +, aqua science blue) and you can keep easier SPS. the output of a pure actinic is only half of most 22k bulbs.
i know i have said it before and i know you like the blue, it just won't be as purple but still blue Your fixture can keep SPS |
