R... if you want to cover the tank, get that plastic wall corner material (you know protects corners of walls...i dunno what is called...edging?) or even the aluminum (what is used) make a square/rectangle whatever fits your tank so it sits on top off it, paint it with say krylon fusion...(think thats what i used, or whatever reef safe paint you can find) fit and stick down gutter guard in between (i used hot glue and some gorilla glue) viola you have a top that if done carefully looks not to bad, plus lets light in and the gutter guard doesn't seem to warp. nothing jumps through it like through eggcrate.
