I used the black diamond CArbon, and fill a phosban reactor full on it every month or so
no trace elements as of yet havent bee ntold to use it. i have lots of seachem cal and ALK additives left...
why am i switching salts I have a huge supply of IO salt. I have been using IO for 7 years now. I would like to know why i would be switching salt. can i switch salts after using this IO , why is INSTANT OCEAN not used but reef cystals is

some salts work better with Lith systems than others, Claude has done many experiments and found the one he suggest works best with the Fauna Lith products due to the chemistry of the salt and what additives are used in their production, this can lead to too many trace elements in the tank which your clams will not like

By changing to the salt claude recommends you will have a balanced system with only the trace elements that your system requires at the right amounts also

RC Salt is made for reef tanks IO for fish tank
the IO salt is not as stabil as the RC salt

OK the trial is going really good IMO. I have seen lots and huge PE on the SPS.

since the 27 of Jan weekly water changes on SUN
still running BLACK diamond Carbon in TLf reactor.
increased to 2ML per day with the ULTRA BAK and ULTRA MIN s

CLaude here are the lasest test s for ya ...
PO4 0.03 ppm it is going up from 0.1 to .03ppm
NO3 10PPM
ALK 7.4
CAL 350
PH 8.2

All tests are from Salifert.

I dont know why my PO4 is going up i thought that this stuff the BAK is suppose to take it out...

may be im not seeing somthing. i have put off on the clam food for 1 week so far too.. my be its the min S doing it..

Hi

The Bio and Bak will bring down the PO4,

Min-S can not increase PO4 as there is no PO4 in it, it is an amino acid no organic compound, the PO4 will be coming from residual in the tank which we discussed on the phone that the Bio will resolve combined with the Bak. This is being sent today.

As we discussed on the phone the first clam would never latch from new and was always wandering around, this is a clear sign of weakness and time will always weed out the weak, the other one as you said never grew or opened up so again, the strong will thrive the really weak no matter what you did will fade. Ultra Clam food in many occassions have saved ropey clams from going over the edge, but that is dependant on some very regular small target feeding and also that they have not gone too far already. We have a dealer in Ottawa that target feeds his new imports for two weeks before releasing for sale and has not had a loss since. (he will be a sponsor here very soon also )

With the new dosing of clam - Bak - min-S and the Bio for your PO4 within 1 week you will see even greater results.
