I've been with the Cervus CU for about 1.5 years. They have been good to me so far. They were recommended by neighbours and friends so I gave them a try.
In my area we are very limited in choices. The few big banks around are so arrogant that customers are leaving in droves, and moving to the CU. It's pretty funny to see them losing customers that have been there for 60 years moving their accounts.

Another thing I've found with banks is that you should switch to another one after about 5 years. Seems their customer service starts going down hill after about 4 years and by the fifth you need to move.

I just ran out and took a picture of the side of my truck, pretty much sums up my feelings

I make these stickers for free if anyone wants one. Great addition to any vehicle and free advertising is always the best for the company involved.

Well I think I'm going to try out Servus Credit Union. They don't have a lot of locations in town though, but from what I've seen & read their online system, or their call center can help with almost everything. Official papers can be courier back to the branch if your branch isn't near you.

I don't think it really matters whether you stay with a credit union or go with a bank. They're probably all owned by the same kind of people. I've had bad experiences with credit unions and bad ones with banks, good ones with both as well.

I currently use PC financial for my day to day banking, no real branches but I do everything online so I don't care. I also have credit, investing, and a mortgage through RBC. They always treated me ok while I had a visa card but once I opened an investing account and got a mortgage the customer service went way up.

I think customer service as a business practice overall is dying. Everywhere from coffee shops to department stores to financial institutions. I think alot of it has to do with the price driven Wal-Mart style way we shop here in North America. I know countless people who will go to a small Mom and Pop store to get all the customer service/information/advice they want for a particular item and then go buy it at wal-mart because it was 10% cheaper there. I think this kind of consumerism makes providing customer service feel like a waste of time to many stores/institutions. You seem to get a "why bother, they'll just go to whoever can beat us by a buck" mentality.
