![]() Hey Marie, I think your wavebox became what is known as a "cryptic zone" where a whole bunch of very interesting stuff grows out of light and high flow. Anthony Calfo (I think) was quite a big fan of cryptic zones a while ago although I haven't heard much about them in a while. Those sponges you found are filter feeders and great for, well, filtering! I know some people who set up cryptic zone refugiums, but it seems like you had one going without even knowing it!

![]() The sponge is to keep it in there snug. I just got one from J&L and believe they had another in stock.

![]() I clean mine about every 6 months. There is a small disc at the bottom of the impeller that needs to be cleaned. It has 3 or 4 holes in it and they must be open. If they get plugged they will trigger an alarm that is just annoying.

Sponge over night only, the rest is for about 48-72 hrs Works very well. |
