My house is crimped PEX as well but have the piercing valve on the copper supply line between the meter and the PEX manifold.

The better way to do it though would be to either Tee into a PEX line, valve then ro unit, or if you have a spare line on your manifold tie into than. Just need to rent a PEX crimper (just did some PEX runs and minumin was about 10 bucks from HD).

The auto shut off at least the one I'm using shuts off the ro feed, if the ro output is closed. Link to diagram of Aquasafe unit (it's the 4 port shuttle valve shown between the prefilters and ro). Have also read of people just hooking up a garden hose timer between the supply line and unit.

im a gas fitter by trade so i have acess to crimpers and everything ive got a spare valve thats capped as it was the old line going to the outside taps but i capped it and ran a new line outside as to bypass the PRV. i just wanted to make sure i had the unit fittings becuase i wasnt sure how easy they would be to find.

I acctually found a T that slides Over PEX and has tightenable connectors on the ends. All I did was cut the Pex and insert this, tighten and done

I was looking for a new RO unit and went with the Aquasafe one from OA...$200 for the four stage RO/DI.

I had one sent from the states once...$140 for the unit, $40 for shipping and like $25 I think for brokerage fees...not worth it IMO. Its about the same price in the end but more hassle unless you really want that exact unit.

Just thought I would mention it.
