centre brace issue on 46 g. bow tank

Well, so much for a Happy New Year. I wondered by my tank tonight and noticed that the centre brace had almost snapped right through (at the back of the tank) which of course really freaks me out. I went to Home Depot and picked up an easy grip vice and that seems to be holding the tank in place for now. Does anyone know if this can be repaired? My husband is thinking that he can reinforce the brace with a new piece of plastic bracing with silocone or PTL (concrete-like glue) over the weak joint or would I be better advised to just buy a new tank? It's an all-glass 46 g bow bought 1994.
