![]() If you check on the WM website, the RX-series is on the same page as the R-series. Whereas the R is a pretty standard recirc design (a la ER RC-series), the RX adds the bubble plate along with the intake silencer and a true union ball valve for the water feed. The water feed is also moved from the near the top of the skimmer body to the bottom underneath the bubble plate.
Looks like WM is going in whole hog with their skimmer line. They're even going to have a cone skimmer: http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/sh...readid=1487970 Good to see a company not half-assing things. |

![]() Any idea why the "cone skimmer" is better then other skimmer?

From what I've read it has to do with the cone shape being able to stabilize and funnel the foam head to one point sort of like how you can increase the velocity of the water coming out of a hose by putting your thumb over the exit hole. It is essentially taking the sloped neck design of most modern skimmers and applying it to the whole body. The jury still seems to be out on how much more effective it is than a "standard" cylindrical skimmer body. Apparently Bubble King looked at a cone design recently and abandoned it. |

![]() WM is coming out with a conical skimmer as well in a few weeks and it looks pretty slick!!! wall to wall foam in the collection cup /droolz
http://reefcentral.com/forums/showth...5&pagenumber=1 The price is right and alot cheaper then the ATB conical. Ill be getting one of these if they make it for a 120gal, currently its for a 300gal. Edit: Oops looks like you already got a thread to the same page, hehe...

![]() Well, sort of recently. RE looked at the design way back in 2004 and decided an internal cone with a cylindrical outer body was superior.
