![]() I tried it, I didn't think it was worth the time, They flavour difference between Freshly roasted and ground to just freshly ground was not that noticable.
When I bought the beans (hear in toronto) they showed me how to roast them in a frying pan. Very similar to making popcorn on the stove.

![]() I used to live downwind of a cafe that roasted their own beans (why isn't there a puke-face icon??) ....you mean people actually bring that smell INTO their own homes?!? Or does it smell better when done in a frying pan?

![]() I don't know what planet I have been on, but I never even thought you could roast your own coffee at home!!! WOW! Do I have to order it, or can I buy some at a local store in the raw form to see what it is like? I live in Alberta, and I see you are all in BC. Also I like the dark roast coffees and always thought the beans had to be a certain kind prior to the roasting process.
I remember a coffee place told me that coffee beans in their green form was used by tribesmen for energy since it has to highest caffeine content. Is this true by any chance? |

![]() i'm sure you could find green beans somewhere in calgary. yes, some beans do better for darker roasts than others. i did a bit of internet searches for the "how to" and the type of beans. i'm getting 15lbs of beans from http://www.levelground.com/
they sell fair trade beans, you have to email and ask for green beans. currently i am roasting with a popcorn popper with success!! the lighter a bean, the higher the content of caffeine. the first few batches that i roasted were a medium blend ( a light coloured bean) and after a few cups my wife was complaining of too much caffeine, as we are used to very dark roasts!!
