Depends on the type/brand of ballast. I can only speak regarding Workhorse 8 ballast which can run a variety of T5 configurations. Does the ballast have any kind of label providing wattage and/or circuit diagrams?

Thanks for the help guys, I have not picked up my ballast yet. It is for my main tank but I was wondering if the same one would work on my frag tank. I will check it out next week.
