![]() We have an 80 gal tank and it has been running now for about 2 years but the fish are about 5 years old they used to be in a smaller tank.
We noticed today that one of the clowns were missing. aside from moving all of the rock we can only find one clown in the tank, they have been together now for just over 5 years. There is no sign of the other clown at all in the tank that we can see. The clown that we can see is very protective of the corner of the tank where the two used to hang out. They were inseparable. Do we take some of the rocks out and try to find the fish? Or could they have finally mated and is one hiding with the eggs? Would they not both come out to eat? Or should we just assume that it is dead? I really am not sure what to do. The levels in the tank seem fine, there is nothing out of the ordinary yet. If anyone can give me some advice I would greatly appreciate it. |

![]() Never thought of that, but then again he was too big to get into the overflow. It is like it has just vanished overnight....
![]() ![]() Everything else in the tank seems just fine, this has never happened in all the years we have had these fish..... |

![]() Yes it was the bigger of the two. So if I don't see it after a couple of days I will expect the worst?

![]() Well I have checked the overflow and no clown....
![]() I am not into moving the rock around, there is just too much and it would disturb the rest of the tank way too much. I am just stunned though that it would just disappear just like that............They are just the same as the family pet, I know they are fish and all, but we have had them for 5 years............................................. .......... |

![]() Thats Rough.... If the clown doesnt show up soon I would start checking your ammonia levels, if they start to spike you may have to start moving some rock.

![]() We lost a clown that seemed quit happy @ the time. When we torn down the tank to move, there it was behind the tank. Is your tank open? that might be a possibility.
