I joined Canreef about a year before I started the salt water hobby. I guess to educate myself and see if I could do it.

Nano was started in Oct of 06 and then the 72 gal in Oct of 07.....hmmmm wonder what Oct 08 is gonna bring?

I voted 2 years but I think it may actually have been closer to 3.

Problem is I started in the late 90's and there weren't really discussion boards yet, or they were in their infancy. I would read rec.aquaria.marine.reefs though, usenet news groups were pretty big in the 90's but seemed to die out when forums like reefs.org, reefcentral.com and canreef.com started to take off.

Canreef started out around 2000 I think? I joined up in 2001 after someone (I think it may have been Bob) posted on r.a.m.r that there was a Canadian reefs discussion forum.

It's been downhill ever since... (ie., the amount of time I spend online that is)

I had a FO tank for almost 6 years before thinking about going for the reef system. That's when I found Canreef and other forums to help me plan and develop my tank.

I guess that makes Canreef sorta like my dealer. It sucked me in and then fed my addiction Now that I'm hooked I have to keep coming back for my next fix

Between three and four years into the hobby. I found r.a.m.r when I had some problems. After that, it was RDO and from there I came over on a bus trip to Canreef...

I think my SW tanks predate the internet....but I was active on other boards before Jason turned me on to Canreef. I could not have built my existing tank without Reef Central.

I started about 1 year before finding Canreef. I used to go on Reef central for info, and then one day I asked if anyone knew of a Canadian site. I can't remember who told me to check out Canreef, but I did, and have never looked back.
