Default Just arrived

Hey all, well I "jumped the gun" so to speak. Today while doing some shopping I stoped by my LFS to see what's new. The first thing I saw was a whole new line of salt that I have never seen before, but have read quite a bit about lately. Pauls' Aquarium in Surrey has just added the Crystal Sea marinemix to there line of saltwater mixes. I don't know too much about this mix other than a few things: it's been around for a long long time, that it's mostly used in labratories, and also for keeping saltwater animals alive for human consumption such as for crab and lobster suppliers. This salt mix has been available in the aquarium industry for years, maybe just not marketed in the same way as some of the more widely used mixes.

Now, I know that I mentioned in Sam's previous post that "we shouldn't jump onto a bandwagon to soon", however I had a thought. Why not give this new salt a go and see if I can notice any differences in my reef over the next 3-4 months with a small trial period. I hopefully won't see a change as it would be hard to see the reduction of metal content for example. Then again, if this water is closer to NSW then it's worth a shot in my books.

Over the 5+ years I have kept a detailed monthly log on my entire setup, so I can now take notes for a few months and not only see but also record if there is any positive or negitive changes within the reef. I'm keeping my fins crossed. Who knows-maybe this a good thing, time will tell I guess.

Cheers, Rich

That's right Rich, you're not 'jumping on the bandwagon' if you're the one driving it!

We'll be watching with interest.

Cool. Thanks for the info. I think I too will go with the Marine Enterprise Crystal Sea mix instead of the Aquacraft Bio-Sea mix then since Marine Enterprise had nothing to do with the S-15 report.

And DT's uses this mix to culture their phytoplankton.

Wendell, it's on Kingsway near Willingdon, I believe. Decent stock of dry goods, used to be the best price around

He hasn't been there in years. The store moved to Surrey. I don't have the address though. He was at the Reef Meet last month. Hey, Wendell, wasn't one of the door prizes from Paul's??!?!?!?!!

Lookie here what I found:

http://www.paulsaquarium.com/

I just decided to type in a URL to see what I come up with and its a (604) area code with a Surrey exchange. How cool is that?

Another one to add to our sidebar?
