Wow three clams ! I just started my max a week ago and i cant wait to add a nice clam.

Is the lighting sufficient for them?

The clams aren't in the RSM. They are in the 9 inch deep tank next to it with metal halide lighting (my tide pool refugium hooked in with the RSM). You can see it better a couple pictures back. I've been told you can keep a clam near the top in a RSM.

Congrats on teh new RSM. I've been really happy with mine so far.

One of my turbos likes coming right out of the water. Here it is from earlier today on the shore. I must not be feeding him enough. He is regularly out eating the algae above the water line.

Here is why clams are better kept in an open top tank. The top half of this picture is a clam viewed over the top of the glass. The bottom half is the same clam viewed through the glass. You can't see any of the greens when looking through glass. Florescent blues look dull purple through glass.

I was having problems with my light (ballast and bulbs) and found it wasn't intense enough for the clams so I upgraded the light over my shallow tank from the Viper 70 to a 250 watt metal halide. The light is too intense for the zoas and mushrooms I had in there so I did some major rearranging. Here's what the three tanks look like now.

some closeups

My snails always get above the water line. all types margs and turbos. the new set looks great. quite the sand bed in the one tank.

No, it is a "Hydor FLO" attached to the stock Red Sea powerhead nozzle

The deep sandbed in the Nanocube 6 is for a jawfish
