Default stand

i went to garf.org for some plans on making a stand and since i'm 13 i can't make any sence of it. here is what they told me

Stand Dimensions:

Stand Height = 16.5"
Stand Width = 20"
Stand Length = 48"

Cut List:

Top Frame:
2 - 2 x 4 x 48
4 - 2 x 4 x 17

Bottom Frame:
2 - 48 x 2 x 4
2 - 2 x 4 x 17

Uprights:
6 - 2 x 4 x 16 1/2

Stand Top:
1 - 3/4 inch plywood - 48 x 20

Aquarium Stand Construction Procedure

a. Inspect all pieces for rough or flawed edges. Sand as needed.
b. Lay out boards for top frame.
c. Screw the end boards and supports to front and back pieces
d. Lay out boards for bottom frame.
e. Screw the end boards and supports to front and back pieces
f. Screw the upright boards to bottom frame.
g. Screw the upright boards to the top frame.
h. Put the 3/4" plywood top on the stand.
i. Cover the stand with your choice of covers i.e 1/4 inch finish plywood.

Can someone put it in dumb words for me?

The one on garf has no pictures and can be a little bit tricky.
Heres one on RC that I plan to use, its alot more detailed and easy to understand: http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/sh...readid=1169964

I'd really check the height on that.
16.5" is really short. generally you want something around 36"

Check out reefcentral.com, the DIY forum and there is an incredible tank build thread (approx 9 pages) with lots of photos.

Sea Serpant - It's great that you want to build your own stand. I might suggest getting help from someone who has the proper tools and can show you how to use them. That way you won't have to worry about structural strength and maybe losing a finger in the process
