You shouldn't need to have the handle seal if the drain at the top of the reactor is lower than the top of the reactor...well, assuming the drain hole doesn't plug up...

My current setup is sumpless and I would like to have the reactor below the tank in the cabinet, so from how I figure it, it would need to be sealed. I suppose the other option is to build a sump or have it hanging on the back of the tank. For now I am going to add more tubing and improve my contections to the phosban reactor, see how that works.

33 gallon sumpless tank, Remora HOB skimmer, 2 6025 nanostream powerheads, XP3 canister filter for flow and carbon, Phosban reactor running Zeovit, 4 HOT5s 2 10K and 2 actinic. 2 Clowns, 2 urchins, snails, frogspawn frag, GBTA, and now 3 Hairy Mushrooms.
