You're lucky it only grew 2" in 7 years. I've had tangs that grew an inch a month (no exaggeration). My Acanthurus mata grew like a weed.

Good luck with the naso. They tend to be strong fish so if it survives the next couple of days, I would imagine that it will start to heal & recover.

I don't think I would try to catch him for quarantine unless you need to treat him for infection. I wouldnt want to add any more stress.

They typically display patches of white when they've been stressed. That should go away quickly.

Yah, him being caught in the rock, probably caused him to freak out, which is a good chance of what caused the blotches. GL with your fishy

well unfortunatlly he didn't make it i found him in the large cave i built him this morning.Thanks for all the info.will try and pickup another in feb when i go to the coast to watch the canucks game.

7 years...I'm very sorry to hear that. I've only had my Naso for 8 months and I'm already quite fond of him.

I think that they are a very slow growing tang. I had one for close to three years and it maybe grew about 1/2" or so. I know of another person with the same experience.
