![]() Why does the light on a refugium needs to be on at night instead of at the same time as the lights on the main tank? Is this so the macro algae is growing at night?

![]() It doesn't require that. It's often done that way to encourage an opposite photosynthesis cycle to minimize pH swing in the system.

![]() if you go that route and the fuge is near the display, you also have to consider light spilling into the display. just a thought.

![]() My fuge will be in the sump in the stand so light spillage isn't an issue.
