I had a fast food drive though cashier ask me for a tip. Since when should you expect a tip for pushing pictures of burgers and fries. Worse of all the kid was sitting on a chair and not even standing. I laughed so hard I almost puked.

I am sure glad I grew up in the 70/80's.

P.S. I would have laughed in that Gas Attendants face and just gone to get my cash. What a joke.

We had the windows replaced on our home by a really big, well known window company. The contractors they sent out liked to spend most of their day standing around smoking and drinking coffee. They installed things wrong, had no clue what they were doing - and it took over a YEAR of grief to get the windows in properly and have the job completed. We got a discount, but would have preferred the work done in the one week it was supposed to take.

Lately in Calgary (or is it all of Canada?), if you own a hammer, you qualify as a contractor. Since then we have been doing most of the renovations ourselves!

It's not just the retail sector plagued with "warm body syndrome". I know of oil companies hiring professionals, no matter how incompetent they are, just to say they filled an empty position on some org chart.

With good reason, I've been locked into a 7-11 before (bunch of rowdys outside and we were waiting for the cops to come get them). They did give us the option to leave first but I figured we were better off inside.
