![]() My vote goes with the Remora. The Deltec is WAY too expensive for what you need, and the Remora has, by and large, gotten pretty good reviews. It's way less likely to overflow than the CSS 65 as well (I'm speaking from experience here...!). That being said, if you want to go with the CSS 65, it will work. I have one on my tank right now, and it's pulling dark, wet skimmate fairly consistently. But you have to watch the water level. If it fluctuates constantly, you'll see it overflow.

![]() I fourth the Remora. I have a Remora HOT skimmer on a 33 gallon and it works awesome. I also have a Deltec 600 on another tank. Its a better skimmer, but is really finicky. As many times as the Deltec has overflowed,( which causes me no grief as it is in a sump) I can not imagine using it as a HOT skimmer.

![]() I've never had my Deltec MCE 600 overflow on me. I guess it could if the air nozzle is open too wide and the collection cup is too low or if the output pipe is blocked. But if you follow the included instructions you shouldn't have a problem.
With that said, the Deltec would be overkill for your 33g (although you could use the Deltec up to a 90g tank if you upgraded in the future). It's also pricey. If you're looking to save even more money you could wait for a used Remora to pop up. They are definitely more available on the used market than the Deltecs. |
