![]() If it were me, I'd give it until the weekend before getting concerned. But if there was an aiptasia anemone underneath that spot, that's more or less a slam dunk diagnosis IMHO.
![]() The squamy you picked up for me, looked "disgruntled" for several days after introduction to the tank. Well, actually, come to think of it, he looked terrible! I forgot, he spawned all day the next day. He was definitely spent after that effort. The mantle was shriveled looking for several days thereafter. But he looks terrific now! As Brad mentioned, if it *is* PM, do the fresh water dip. It works like a charm! Just make sure the temperature is matched. Don't worry about the clam, they can handle the fresh water so long as there isn't temperature shock. There's a story from a few years ago about a guy who did a FW dip on a clam for PM, but forgot about the clam so it was in FW all night - he put it in the tank the next morning and it was fine. I guess they just clamp up tight and ride it out. But I think the culprit here is the aiptasia.

![]() I saw your clam at the store the other day and it looked fine. (Oh and by the way my tank is fine and there was never a crash. I heard from Daniel that you told him it had but that isn't the case.

Thats what i thought to. I was pretty sure it looked okay. And nope that is not what i told him ![]() In the mean time i think i will sit and wait a few days and see how it looks. I think it may be catching a little current as we'll which may be pushing that part of the mantle up. Now that i have removed the nem it is not scrunched up at all just seems like it is turned up a little. I will post on the weekend with some new pics and see what everyone thinks ![]() Thanks |

![]() So I'm reading your post over at RC and how you said there seems to be Stichodactyla tapetum on it?
Dudes you HAVE to take some pictures and let us see! I'd love to see them if they are tapetum.. ![]()

![]() Hey Tony
Yep that is what it is. And what really sucks is i killed the first one not knowing what it was and it was making the mantle on the clam curl up. I will try and get a pic of it tonite and post it. There are 2 on the mantle now. Very rainbow like colours. |

![]() Ya wanna sell 'em??? Or wait until they split .. please put my name on the waitlist! (No I'm serious, if you want to sell them, let me know .. you might have noticed I'm something of an anemone geek, I haven't seen tapetum up here ... well .. actually, I've never seen tapetum in person, but would love to find me one!! We'll find a way to remove them off the clam without hurting either the anemone or clam..)

![]() I always scrubbed mine under tepid tap water, a clam guru told me this. Upside down of course, and don't try it just cause it worked for me.

![]() This works especially well for the pesky little snails that like to eat at clams.
