Hitchhiking snail
I found this snail attached to one of my other trochus snails. I found the trochus snail dead this morning. I am unable to identify this snail and was wondering if it is the culprit.

I think that I do have a whelk. Some of the shells look similar and the behavour fits what I read in other places on this board once I had a word to search with. Now I have to figure out what to do with the whelk since I would like to get clams eventually and well, I don't care to have my snail population killed off either.

Just an FYI, I had a whelk looking thing in my tank for about 4 years, never did anything wrong. Just because it was suckered onto a snail that later died doesn't mean it did the killing....
