a lot of people suffer from depression, lack of energy, lack of motivation come the winter months when the sunlight hours are less. hence the name "winter blues"
with the sad light, 1/2 hour use a day is suppose to replace some of the lost sunlight (it's positive effects on the body) better than going to doc for some pills to make you happy
