Try using Seahem's Mg powder, it worked very well for my 29g. Raised it from1230 to 1400

I would suggest running more in the reactor Colin,
Prior to adding it to my reactor mg was 1000, now its 1400 @ 10 %.

Make sure your at 10% mg to Ca media, if its not where you want it run 20 %.

I bet a higher alk would counter raising Mg to some degree, but im unsure how much.

My DKH is 8.

Marc.

I use the Mg from littlesilvermax here on the site. It works very well when I have to raise my Mg levels. It is very inexpensive and you should have some on hand anyways. just for the times you have to bump it up a bit. He will ship it to you as well.

Just my .02

Can you tell me more about zeomag? Or where I can find literature on it? Without knowing what zeomag is (doh google, why must you fail me now?), my best guess would be to bump up the level manually, and use your reactor to maintain the levels.

Then again Fudge seems to have a really good idea as well...

if you have large tank and small reactor you would have to add more than 10% to maintain 1500ppm eh. thats just what found

How do you figure that. Its easily raised with a magnesium additive from one of the name brands or like many of us, the magnesium that was mentioned here.

Niloc, when I ran my co2 reactor, my magnesium always seemed to stay around 1350ppm when using Carib-sea media. I tried the Geo-Marine crushed coral, which is a lot cheaper but never measured or used it long enough to see how the magnesium was from it.

Yeaj, I've just added a 300ml container of the Seachjem Reef Adv Mg over the last few weeks to my 65g reef and it didn't move much at all. I just ordered a bunch from littlesilvermax as it is much cheaper and much less is required to raise mg the same amount according to the reef calculator http://jdieck1.home.comcast.net/chemcalc.html
I would have went bankrupt trying to raise my Mg with the Seachem Reef Adv Mg. Hopefully I will see my order from littlesilvermax in the next couple of days so that I can get levels back to where they need to be

I stumbled upon it while trying to figure out how to raise Mg levels from a small town that has no reefing supplies I ended up going with epsom salts for a quick fix (that actually lasted quite a while until I could get my hands on some zeomag).

Anyway here are some links, I haven't really found a "ton" of info on it. I sort of think it works the same way a reactor works, if you want to raise your levels faster you should get your levels where you want them with another product and then maintain them with the zeomag. So far I haven't gotten the reactor dialed in properly yet to have my ca and mg where I want them so I'm still fiddling with it.

I know it seems like a lot of reading but really it isn't, each link has a tidbit of info. I thought I had a more informative link for overall info but I can't find it. I got most of the bulk of my info from Marc who patiently answered all my questions about it.

OA also carries FaunaMarin Ultramag which is essentially the same product (from what i've read) I just found it in a spanish forum:

Thanks Christy! My google-fu is weak this week. What kind of reactor are you using?

Colin,

Have you decided on a method for raising your Mg?
