![]() what is the TDS in your area (there probably are TDS testers at your lfs)? that will tell you how clean your water is. high number bad, low number good.
In vancouver our TDS can be as low as 7ppm i believe. on the other hand i think there was a case in calgary where it got to 200ppm. if the TDS is low, the AP tap filter works fine and will last long (i use it). if TDS is high, then you might want to look into getting an RO unit yourself. |

![]() I used one for a while before I went RODI. It knocked the yds down to around 10, from 70.

![]() ya i have no idea what the tds is here in kitchener, ontario but i got im using it to get rid of silicates. The phosphate in the area is low but the silicates are high. My tank and acros have been doing really well, good growth and colour but i just think theres room for improvment.

![]() How quickly you need to change the DI resin is dependant on the TDS of your tap water. The lower the TDS, the longer between changes.
You could buy a TDS meter or ask your local city government. But probably the easiest way to tell is to ask a local reefer or an LFS that deals in SW. |
