What do you do with 10,000 gallons of sea water every week? I'm sure the local water authority wouldn't want it simply dumped in the sewers or drain-off...

ah but what if it was a SW? If i were to have a 50000 gal reef, Id probably just get a permit to make a flow through system that is plugged directly into the ocean. I wonder if that is even legal...

Must be, Vancouver Aquarium does it. They use aglal mat scrubbers and Ozone and Skimmers etc before they use the water, my understanding is that it's all UV sterilized before it goes back to the ocean.

lol you make it sound so simple. Have you actually seen the filtration system at the aquarium? It's ENORMOUS! And yeah all the water is UV sterilised.

I imagine you'd probably need a permit because its a home, not a public... thingy. Although you could charge a fee everytime someone comes into your house to see.

hell while we're at it, why not just buy a piece of the ocean? a good couple of cubic kilometers would do it for me. Then you just net it off and add livestock! hehehe 50000 gallons? pshhhh.
