Default A question about my stand...

The stand for my 190g is a metal stand that supports the perimeter of the tank. The top part of the stand is 1.5x1.5 angle (when the tank is on it sits in the angle). I plan to put a piece of 3/4 in plywood and a piece of 3/4 styrofoam under the tank. Is the stand safe? This is the stand that the tank was on for years in the past but there will be a lot more wieght in the tank this time i.e. rock and sand.

Thanks for any input

Doesn't matter how much you have been reading until you take the plunge.
You don't know as much as you think.

No, that's what I'm a bit concerned about. Only the edges of the tank get support from the metal stand. It would be a bit of a PITA to access the metal stand now and have a support welded in but if there's a chance the bottom glass will break I have to do it. I haven't seen very many big tanks I'm not sure if it's common to have just the perimeter of the tank resting on the stand.

Here are some pics, the first one is when I just got it. The second one is after the new front and back vertical supports were welded in and partially framed in with wood. I know, I know I just should have had horizontal supports done at the same time but I didn't think of it
