Hi Ron
Looks like you've upgraded your tank to a multi-million gallon tank.... thats beautiful but huge bioload

Seriously, thats some of the nicest pics of a reef I've seen. Whereabouts is this exactly?

just wow - Yet more reason to love the reef and the life that is in the ocean.

My first thought when I saw the pic of the clowns in the anemone was "Wow, that's one hell of a big tank he's got!!!"

Just awesome, great pics!

PS. The weirdest part is that you seem to be using this to heat your tank:

I would have guessed you'd have needed more wattage.. obviously I was way off on that one.

I've got it plugged into 220V so it's actually pumping out 100W!!!

The pics were taken during Xmas holidays in Thailand. The dive sites were south of Phuket. The weather had been a little off so visibility was moderate at best hence the closeups being the clearest shots.

This was my first time trying out UW photography. It is a little more complicated than just point and shoot. I'm anxious to try it again after having some practice. Next time I'll make sure to try to include a size reference when possible; that tridacna was about 2 feet across but it didnt show that way in the picture.

Well the pictures are really awesome. I'd love to know, what were you shooting with? Did you have a flash? (or a strobe I guess is the proper term for UW photography??)?

Hey Ron,

You got some really teriffic shot's there!

I see you did a wreck as well as reefs, what were your depths?
South of Phuket eh, did you stay in Phuket and how long was the boat ride to the dive sites? Also how good was the shop that took you out!

I know what you mean about the UW shooting, I only wish my Cannon Powershot had a better white balance feature especially since the UW housing is designed so well. Taking an image of clear blue water for a manual setting does wonders for getting rid of the blue cast and highlighting all the other colors of the sea. Now if Panasonic made a housing for there F series I would be laughing!

Thanks for sharing your trip and stiring up the travel/dive bug

I learned how to dive last spring in Thailand - other side of the peninsula though - Kao Tao - it was amazing and your pictures make me want to go back really really bad.
