Default how careful should i be with new rock?

ive been curing liverock in a bucket for almost two weeks now, i made the mistake of changing all the water in the bucket to new saltwater so i wasnt able to get an ammonia reading, its been in the new water for 24 hours and ammonia reads zero, id like to put this piece into my tank, its about 2lbs of live rock and its going into an 8 gallon tank, the rock looks pretty clean there isnt much on it.

what are your thoughts on putting this rock in?

Two pounds of rock into an eight gallon tank is way too risky. You could have die off on that rock for weeks. I wouldn't do it. Give it a chance to cycle now in the new water.

okay, just checking, its been curing for two weeks already, how much longer do you figure it will take till its finished, i know doing tests work but i really havent had much ammonia happen in the water, theres not much on the rock its pretty white/brown

If the rock was pretty lifeless to begin with, I'd say give it a few more days.
Then check the ammonia,
If you have any Start tracking it.
If you don't your probably alright to toss it in.

yeah its a really nice peice lots of holes and stuff, but not much life, i havent seen one bristle worm or anything, theres really no place for them as this rock is really open, just some sponges but i scrubbed them off, for the most part its pretty bare and thats why i dont think im getting much ammonia

Where did you get it from, was it already pre-cured?

I got my rock at Gold's. It wasn't pre-cured and it took about 4 weeks. I never checked the ammonia though, only the level of nitrite and nitrate.
