Really, one week, wow. Well here's hoping it's nothing worse than that.

Literally this came out of nowhere. I'm noticed this last night and I'm not sure it was even there yesterday morning. It may have been and I'm just not observant, but for sure it wasn't there the day before.

Wow that is really weird. I hope it goes away as quickly as it arrived.

Question

It's definately not a burn, it seems to be in the underlying tissues. What about an infection or fungal episode? Never seen such an event although my experience with clams is very limited. The good thing is the clam otherwise looks very healthy. Perhaps were're overlooking something quite natural?

I have something similar on my baby maxima I got a few weeks ago. It looks like it's healthy but this is my fist clam so I'm not sure. It is more to the sides than in the middle and I have more of it. The lighting has obviously changed coming to my tank and I have had some issues dialing in my CA reactor. I will post some pics later when the lights come on.

Not a very good pic but I think you can see it. I wonder if it's the same thing?

I know nothing about clams other than they are pretty. Who was it that had the clam farm in the fraser valley. He came to Ocean Aquatics and did a presentation on clams a few years ago, he'd most likely be the best person to ask about it.

Naw, thats normal. I've seen lots of maximas with that gold stripe down the mantle midline. It looks pretty neat from above
